An Interview in The Mirror
PRESENTER: Hi and welcome. I think it’d be best if we just dove right in, if that’s alright with you? Great.
So, after getting to know you a bit, it’s become quite obvious that you spend a lot of time thinking about other people, sometimes even putting their needs ahead of yours. Do you think that, maybe in an attempt to please everyone, this has become a selfish act? Would you say your people-pleasing tendencies have become unproductive and therefore counterintuitive? By doing so, are you trying to gain attention and perhaps therefore validation from the same people whose needs you are supposedly earnest to meet?
And, furthermore, how does this connect to your life at home? Your relationships with the parental figures in your life, perhaps. Would you say you’re more like your mother or your father? How so? And in what ways will these shared characteristics carry forward into your adult life? Are you going to make the same mistakes with your children that they did? Do you in turn see these same traits in your siblings? And would you say these traits were taught to you, or do you think you were born into them? Nature or nurture, hm?
And if it’s learned behavior then how do you know you won’t plague anyone else with these terrible things? You’re a manipulator by heart, and you know that, deep down. You learned that from your stepfather, didn’t you? He destroyed everything in his path and now you’re going to do the same. Do you think you’re unloveable? Maybe you are. Maybe you should be. You don’t believe that it’s worth it, to love you. Might as well go somewhere better, a bit less tumultuous, huh? They’ll be happier there?
But you won’t be, will you? How does it feel to be stuck with yourself? There’s no getting out. And you don’t even care enough to fix it. Why don’t you care? Why won’t you fix things? What’s wrong with you?
…
Please, take your time. There is no rush in these responses.

i'm not even sure if its age/gender appropriate for me to be here but I'm still laughing at this - so dry, so sharp, so funny dammit. Plus you've just got a whole pile of those pesky gremlin thoughts out your head and into daylight..and made someone (who has so many of the same) laugh at 8.30 in the morning...
